Organizational Structure of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Sports Foundation

The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Sports Foundation follows a well-defined organizational structure designed to ensure effective governance, management, and the smooth execution of its objectives. The structure is divided into three key bodies: The Governing Council, The Executive Council, and The Secretariat. These bodies work in close collaboration to promote sports, youth activities, and social causes across India and internationally.


1. The Governing Council (Supreme Body)

The Governing Council is the highest decision-making authority within the foundation. It holds overall responsibility for strategic direction, policy formulation, and ensuring that the foundation’s work aligns with its mission and values. The Council consists of the following members:

  1. Head, Board of Trustees
  2. Board of Trustees
  3. Chief Executive Officer (On Nomination/Appointment Basis)
  4. Two Representatives from Government Organizations
    • One Male
    • One Female
  5. Two Representatives from NGOs
    • One Male
    • One Female
  6. Two Representatives from Media
    • One Male
    • One Female
  7. Two Representatives from Social Organizations (other than physical education and sports)
    • One Male
    • One Female
  8. Two Athlete Representatives
    • One Male (Able-bodied)
    • One Female (Able-bodied)
    • One Male (Differently-abled)
    • One Female (Differently-abled)

The Secretariat is responsible for forwarding the names of the proposed members to the Executive Council for approval.


2. The Executive Council

The Executive Council is responsible for the day-to-day operations, strategic decision-making, and overseeing the foundation’s activities. This body manages the implementation of policies set by the Governing Council and ensures that all initiatives are carried out effectively. The members of the Executive Council are:

  1. President
  2. Chief Executive Officer
  3. Vice President (Two Positions)
  4. Secretary General
  5. Joint Secretary (Two Positions)
  6. Treasurer
  7. Executive Members (30 Positions)
  8. One Representative from Commissions
  9. One Representative from Advisor Board (One Male and One Female on a rotational basis, annually for each meeting)
  10. One Representative from NGO (One Male and One Female on a rotational basis, annually for each meeting)
  11. One Representative from Media (One Male and One Female on a rotational basis, annually for each meeting)
  12. One Representative from Social Organizations (other than physical education and sports) (One Male and One Female on a rotational basis, annually for each meeting)
  13. One Athlete Representative (One Male and One Female, including able-bodied and differently-abled athletes on a rotational basis, annually for each meeting)
  14. Representative from Collaborators
  15. Representative from Partners
  16. Representative from Supporters
  17. Chief Executive Officer - Member Secretary

The Secretariat forwards the names to the Executive Council for final approval.


3. The Secretariat

The Secretariat plays a crucial administrative role in the foundation, handling the operational and logistical aspects of the organization. The Secretariat is managed by senior leadership and a team of dedicated professionals who ensure the smooth execution of programs, events, and other initiatives. The Secretariat is organized as follows:

  1. Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
  2. Director General
  3. Special Director General
  4. Additional Director General
  5. Deputy Director General
  6. Executive Director
  7. Director
  8. Deputy Director
  9. Assistant Director
  10. Senior Project Officer
  11. Project Officer
  12. Assistant Project Officer
  13. Administrative Assistant

The Secretariat will draft rules and guidelines for the nomination of the above-mentioned positions, which will then be submitted to the Executive Council for final approval.


Approval Process

  • The Secretariat is responsible for forwarding the names of potential members for both the Governing Council and Executive Council for further approval. The Executive Council will review and approve the final list of members.
  • For key positions within the Secretariat, a structured process for nomination and approval will be established, and all appointments will be made following the guidelines set by the Executive Council.
